I have ten years tutoring experience. I tutor for 7+ to 11+ exams, teaching English, maths, reasoning, interview preparation. Previous students have gained places at leading independents such as Westminster, St Paul’s, Dulwich, Alleyn’s, JAGs, Kings College London, Sussex House and Laytmer Upper. I also have considerable experience tutoring pupils for grammar exams and The Wandsworth Test.
I have previously taught the Hyde Tutoring reasoning courses and I have taught many 1:1 reasoning students too. Reasoning is a skills that is so important to master for entrance exams, as so many schools place such a large emphasis on reasoning results. As pupils do not typically do reasoning at school it can be an area that overwhelms a lot of pupils, however once you get your head around it, it starts to feel like puzzles and it may even become fun to do!
I also teach English and drama up to secondary school level. I am passionate about drama and creativity. I use this personal enthusiasm for performance to cultivate a creative, engaging, energetic and ultimately fun learning experience for each of my students. I believe that it is o important that my students enjoy the learning process as everyone learns most effectively when they are fully engaged with the process and they look forward to their lessons.
Having worked in a variety of primary schools, teaching phonics and giving 1:1 support, I became extremely passionate about how personalised teaching can push students to exceed their expectations. This dedicated focus can enhance a child’s confidence in such a positive and productive way: it is always a pleasure to watch a student grow and achieve. I also have valuable experience working with SEN children; this has undoubtedly enhanced my ability to adapt and cater my teaching style to each individual.
