University of Southampton 2014 – 2018 – 2.1 in Mathematics with German including over 90% in a module teaching mathematics

I am a full-time private tutor who is committed to tutoring as a career. My specialist subject is mathematics, which I tutor from 10+ up to A level. I also have experience tutoring a wide range of subjects which include English, biology, chemistry, physics, Spanish, geography, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.

My most recent job was a full-time residential placement working with two primary school pupils in South America. I delivered the UK Key Stage 2 National Curriculum, focussing mainly on maths and English for my two students, who were 9 and 11 years old.

Before this, I specialised in tutoring students for the ISEB online pre tests and school entrance papers, and I have considerable experience preparing students for English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.  My students received offers from some of the country’s most prestigious private schools such as Eton, Harrow, Dulwich, Emanuel, Tonbridge, Wycombe Abbey, Cheltenham Ladies’ College and Downe House.  I also prepare children for the UK’s most competitive grammar school  and selective streamed state school exams, such as The Sutton Eligibility Test (SET), Tiffin Girls’ and Tiffin School and The Wandsworth Test.

As a tutor, I ensure that my lessons are engaging and discussion-based; I use the Socratic Method to guide students to a correct answer, rather than lecturing them on a certain topic. I am very thorough in my planning of tutoring sessions and programmes of study to ensure that my students have the best possible chance of achieving their academic goals.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing football, tennis, squash and pool. I am also a keen linguist and like to practise my Spanish and German whenever I get the chance to travel. My most memorable trip was completing the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile hike across Spain.
