Hi, my name is Esme! I have 500+ hours’ experience of tutoring in subjects such as French, Spanish, English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, Drama & Theatre Studies, Critical Thinking (all to A Level) English as an Additional Language (iGCSE), IELTS, 7+, 11+, 13+ and 16+. I have taught extensively over Zoom (in addition to Hyde Tutoring, I work for two tutoring agencies that specialise in online tutoring for students in Asia), and I have also worked with families all across the world, including in-person in both France and Spain – so I totally understand the need for flexibility in these contexts. I have assisted with the applications of various schools and universities internationally, such as Oxbridge and Ivy League colleges, and I have an incredibly in-depth knowledge of the school system across the UK.
I take a creative approach to my classes, and I enjoy adapting my lesson plans as to the academic requirements and personal requirements of each student. I strive to make my classes a warm and fun environment where learning feels like a pleasure and is interesting, while still having a strong understanding of the skills needed for students to flourish to their best potential.
I also keep in strong contact with parents throughout the duration of their child’s teaching experience, from providing homework to also extensive and regular feedback. I understand the importance of adapting and tailoring reports to each family and their child’s needs, and as a very communication-focused person, this is paramount to my practice as a tutor. Moreover, I am an incredibly organised individual who thoroughly arranges a full tutorial schedule in advance, after meeting a student and reviewing their first pieces of classwork and homework. I place a lot of emphasis on making a strategic plan which allows each individual tutee to develop their skills and technique.
