Ellie Brown

Hello! I am a dedicated and passionate teacher of History and for the past 12 years I have been committed to exploring as much as I can about the past in order to teach topics in a way that is fresh, diverse and profound.

Having taught for 12 years, I am always bowled over by the way students can inject new life into topics that I have become so familiar with. History is a challenging academic subject but it is also one that has the potential to open hearts and minds to the lives of others and create a real sense of empathy and passion for positive change.

Through my tutoring, I aim to instil a keen interest in the past and a lifelong appreciation for the subject. I am here to support and guide a student in understanding the course material, revision skills, exam skills and, more generally, honing their technique to answer questions with confidence and panache.

I have also been a Head of Year 10 and 11 so I am aware of the various pressure points and challenges which students can face, as well as particular learning pathways and styles for neurodivergent students.

A wonderful element of 1:1 tutoring is the quality time I can dedicate to each individual and I love celebrating the ‘lightbulb moments’ with them. Each session is a safe space for students to ask questions, receive guidance and explore their potential.
