I have been tutoring for 10 years specialising in the 7+ and 11+ entrance exams. I have experience preparing students for a wide range of leading schools in the independent and grammar sectors. I mainly prepare students for London schools but I also am knowledgeable about boarding schools. Schools that I have prepared children for include but are not limited to: Alleyn’s, City of London, St Paul’s Girls’, Westminster, St Paul’s, Kings College Wimbledon, Tiffin Girls’, Highgate, North London Collegiate, UCS and many more. I aim to provide families with guidance and support during the entrance exam process, as I understand that it can be a confusing process to go through, especially if you yourself did not take entrance exams in the UK. I also teach KS2 & KS3 Maths and English; History to A level and I can offer general support with academic confidence and homework
As well as one-to-one tuition, I am very experienced in group tutoring. I teach students on revision courses and holiday camps, including the Hyde Tutoring Holiday Camps.
I have had extensive training on teaching students how to prepare for interviews and to improve their oracy an communication skills. I go into many of the leading independent schools and work with groups of students to help them to prepare for the 11+ interview process.
I am also a qualified and practicing CBT therapist. I utilise my knowledge of psychology in my tutoring, to ensure my students go into their exams confident and prepared. Mindset is crucial for exam success. It is also so important for SEND pupils who so often lack confidence and doubt their own ability, by working on confidence building activities, their academic performance and their view of academia and school can transform.
I absolutely love tutoring – it is incredibly rewarding helping students to overcome learning obstacles and achieve their academic goals. I do this by carefully listening to my students’ needs and tailoring my teaching approach to their particular learning style. I also utilise a range of teaching strategies and resources to create an engaging, dynamic, and enjoyable learning experience. Fundamental to my tutoring approach is instilling confidence – I put particular emphasis on building confidence in each session as I believe this is essential to a student’s overall development and progress. It is especially fulfilling to equip students with the lasting confidence they need to succeed.
Outside of tutoring, I love literature, art, yoga, gardening, languages (I have 2 hours of French lessons a week) and long walks in nature.
