I’m a British-qualified teacher and tutor with over 15 years’ experience working with children and adults in the UK and internationally. I’m based in Bogotá, Colombia, where I have lived and taught for over a decade. I tutor online, working with students in different countries.
I tutor English, reading, writing, EAL and primary Maths, from young learners through to adults. Much of my career has been in international education, so I’m accustomed to working with students and families from different countries and backgrounds. I’ve also supported many students through important changes, such as moving to a new school, starting a different curriculum or settling into life in a new country.
I believe that positive relationships lead to deeper learning. A fundamental part of this is understanding what makes each student tick and helping them find a way of learning that works for them. Sometimes that means building a missing skill; sometimes it means unlocking their confidence; and sometimes it’s guiding a student towards realising what they are truly capable of.
The best part of teaching is seeing those little lightbulb moments and watching a student begin to flourish where they once lacked confidence. Seeing a learner become genuinely curious and fly with enthusiasm is the greatest gift.
