I have over 9 years of academic advising and tutoring experience as both a private and university tutor. Getting to help students develop both their knowledge and their confidence is what drives my work. My goal is to make sure sessions aren’t just informative and effective, but also fun and catered to each student’s unique learning style.
I have ample experience tutoring one-on-one and in group settings, with multiple years of online tutoring experience, so I can cater my sessions to whatever modality is best for my students. My experience ranges from the primary school level for both English, maths and reasoning (both general support and for entrance exams), all the way the way to postgraduate level biology, physics, chemistry, and medicine. I also have ample experience teaching standardized testing at the university and postgraduate levels and also for SAT exams for American universities. Notably, I have worked with both children and adults with learning differences, particularly ADHD and dyslexia, and have developed tools to adapt and optimize lessons for these unique learning needs.
Pulling from my experience as an alumni interviewer for undergraduate admissions at Georgetown University, an application reviewer for the US-UK Fulbright Commission fellowships, and as an application reviewer and mentor for Cornell University’s Gateways to the Laboratory program, I also provide personal statement and creative essay tuition for academic applications. My mentees have achieved successful applications to MD, PhD, MFA, and Fulbright programs. My advising particularly focuses on crafting captivating, narrative-driven personal statements to really anchor and personalise applications.
For parents of younger children, I am Basic Lifesaving Skills/CPR certified and have three years of post-graduate medical training, including 2 months of paediatrics-focused clinical experience. As a result, I am comfortable and confident working with children with complex medical needs.
