I’m a warm, creative private tutor, former experience working with year 6 in a school and professional screenwriter. I’ve successfully supported many students to gain places at their top-choice schools — from the highly selective such as Highgate, Channing, Queen’s College and Francis Holland, to smaller, nurturing schools including St Margaret’s, Palmers Green and Queenswood.

I work with a wide range of learners: academically advanced pupils who need stretching, as well as children who struggle in particular areas or have SEN, including dyslexia, ADHD, autism and anxiety. Drawing on my classroom experience, I can quickly assess a child’s level in English, Maths and Reasoning in a low-pressure and confidence-building way. I then design a personalised programme to target gaps, strengthen core concepts, and develop exam technique, always attuned to each child’s learning style.

I introduce authentic 11+ material early so pupils become extremely familiar with question formats and develop clear strategies for approaching each paper. This focus on exam technique means students go into exams confident, calm, and knowing exactly how to tackle what’s in front of them.
I also have experience in residential settings, including full-time homeschooling roles and a month-long 11+ preparation placement abroad, where I delivered intensive, tailored daily teaching, adjusting timing, pacing, and content to keep students engaged and learning effectively during longer holiday sessions.
My teaching is academically rigorous and progress-focused, but as an AuDHDer myself, I’m particularly sensitive to children who struggle with confidence, anxiety or perfectionism. I prioritise building a strong, trusting relationship so pupils feel safe to take risks and make the mistakes necessary to improve. This might include intentional “bad writing” exercises to unblock perfectionism, or starting with material that allows quick, visible wins before gradually increasing difficulty. I may also include practical strategies for staying calm and keeping perspective during exam periods.
Parents often comment on how much their children enjoy lessons with me, as well as the clear progress and strong results they achieve. I support pupils through every stage of the admissions process — from core academic skills and exam technique to interview and activity-day preparation — helping them succeed academically, while maintaining confidence and resilience.
