BA Hons in Natural Sciences and MSci (Master of Science) in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, ranking in the top 30 students of my cohort.
I am experienced in preparing and teaching students A-level and GCSE Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and I have helped my students achieve outstanding grades through supportive and engaging lessons which were tailored to their individual needs. I also tutor English and Mathematics for KS1 and KS2, as well as preparing students for 7+, 10+ and 11+ exams (including Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning).
I am also able to help students prepare for Oxbridge interviews or admissions tests, as someone who has been through it successfully! Additionally, I have experience with working with young children and also, children with ADHD. I am a great listener, and I aim to really understand the person I am working with; disentangling their strengths from their weaknesses, where their difficulties lie, and how we can approach tackling the difficulties together.
My tutoring style is empathetic, caring, friendly, and engaging: I aim to help students enjoy their learning process. Each student has individual needs, so I ensure to tailor our lessons to my student’s strengths and their areas for improvement. I aim to pinpoint the specific barriers to my student’s learning, and I work to understand why these barriers exist, so that we can start breaking them down together. I see so much potential in students, and I aim to activate it through targeted teaching practices. Secondly, I aim to help students remain organised and calm; I empathise with how overwhelming and stressful studying can be, so I guide my students with prioritisation and planning techniques to generate sustainable motivation and get ‘underwhelmed’, not overwhelmed! This is especially helpful for students with ADHD or ADHD tendencies. My experience in achieving top results from my own academic background was due to my own use of many such targeted practices and organisation techniques, which I always incorporate in my tutoring method. Alongside this, I also focus on exam technique, demystification of complex ideas and encouragement of problem solving. I believe I am adept at taking students from many varied starting points all the way to achieving excellence, in attitude, knowledge and results.
